Rick is a peripatetic doctor!

Having graduated from Otago in the mid 70's and following postgraduate training in Christchurch, Rick then practised anaesthesia and pain management in Auckland

Rick returned to his family home, Christchurch in the mid 90's whereupon he was appointed Clinical Director of the Burwood Spinal Unit. Rick has also been a visiting specialist to the Auckland Spinal Rehabilitation Unit.

Rick travels widely in New Zealand consulting in pain management, spinal disability and medical governance.

Rick's wife Nina and son George are both doctors. Daughter Emily is a lawyer in Auckland, and the youngest daughter Lucy is completing a marketing degree at Otago University.

Rick has a cheerful disposition and a keen interest in the importance of happiness and compassion in healthcare.
