Congratulations Dr Salvador Lopez, CatWalk Research Fellow

We know that collaboration is key to unlocking a cure for spinal cord injury. So we’re delighted that Dr Sal Lopez has been awarded a PJ Smith Travelling Fellowship to visit spinal cord injury research teams in Australia later this year.

Dr Lopez is a CatWalk Research Fellow and one of the lead Cure Programme researchers. His overarching research interest is in the development of novel therapeutic approaches to improve bladder function after a spinal cord injury.

This grant means he can meet and talk face to face with spinal cord injury researchers at Griffith University and the University of Adelaide.

“At Griffith, I will be observing and learning new surgical procedures, essential to spinal cord injury research. At the University of Adelaide, I’ll be focused on bladder and lower urinary tract function. We’ll look at ways to improve current measurements and discuss other tests that can be done to give us a more thorough understanding of function after an injury.”

“I’m excited for the opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas with our collaborators at Griffith University and the University of Adelaide. Working together helps us all,” says Sal.

Make a difference, today.

Spinal cord injury does not have to be a life sentence. A cure is within reach. Your support helps to bring that cure closer.
Thank you.
